THE LADY LF SHALOTT/ values: patience-caring

THE LADY OF SHALOTT
VALUES: PATIENCE / CARING

This essay would be about how the values of patience and caring are reflected in the story of “The lady of shalott”. To start with this story is a lyrical ballad written by the English poet Alfred, Lord Tennyson. This story is about patience because the girl of shallot is imprisoned in a tower on a beautiful island near Camelot and she doesn’t have any idea of the outside world kind of like Rapunzel, the people of Camelot only could hear her signing, so patience is reflected in this story because this lady one day decide to leave the island on a little boat and she ended up dead basically because she couldn’t wait and in my opinion even if in the story it isn’t specified I think she was in love with someone who actually lived in Camelot who’s name was Lancelot and she was so impatient to go there and meet him because she could see him trough a mirror that she had and with that mirror is that she could see Camelot. Then towards the end we discover that in her trip to Camelot she died in the water of the river and then she ends up in Camelot and Lancelot compliment her dead face saying she had a pretty face. This teach us and tells us that if we wait and we are patient we could stop bad things from happen for example her death if she had wait or maybe ask for help screaming and not just singing like she used to do maybe people could have heard her and went to help her and liberate her from her big tower and then she could have went to Camelot and meet the guy that she used to spy with her mirror she was so desperate to escape that she risk her life and died escaping by her own the thing that makes this even sadder is that Lancelot though she was pretty so they could have been together if she had have a little more patience or maybe have had a little more caring when she was escaping, tried to be more careful with the water and the way she was going to Camelot, her death could have been easily evoided, and she knew because she heard that if she looked Camelot she would be cursed so the girl actually wasn’t that smart because yes she was impatient to go out of where she was but a person that thinks and knows the danger of a situation would try to avoid to risk her life by a dumb decision, so this leads us to a conclusion, the girls was desperate to go out and see for herself the truth of Camelot, see Lancelot and her curiosity and impatience cause her her death. Patience is a persons ability to wait something or endure something tedious in this case it was the imprisonment of the lady of shallot and caring is feeling or showing concern or kindness to others this is reflected when Lancelot saw her dead well this is in my opinion, this is how I see those two values reflected in “The lady of Shalott”.
